Vaughan-Bassett is a furniture company based in Galax, Virginia, that has specialized in American-made wooden bedroom furniture since 1919. Founded by B.C. Vaughan and J.D. Bassett, Sr., the company has grown to become the largest manufacturer of wooden adult bedroom furniture in the United States. They employ over 500 craftsmen in their Virginia factories.
The company builds its furniture primarily from wood solids and veneers sourced from the southeastern United States. Key species used include pine, oak, maple, and cherry. This local sourcing and domestic manufacturing are central to the brand's identity, ensuring that all products are crafted entirely in America.
Vaughan-Bassett markets its furniture under its own name as well as the Artisan & Post and Laurel Mercantile Home brands. The latter is a collaboration with Erin and Ben Napier of HGTV's "Home Town". As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company runs a "One-for-One Program," replacing every tree used in its production process. All chests and dressers are also built to comply with ASTM International safety standards.
