Fernweh Woodworking is a furniture design and production studio founded by Justin Nelson in Bend, Oregon, in 2015. The company operates its own woodshop and leather studio, creating small-batch, handcrafted hardwood furniture. Their work combines traditional woodworking techniques with modern technology.
The studio's aesthetic is characterized by sculptural forms and clean lines, drawing inspiration from the work of designers like Sam Maloof, Hans Wegner, and Finn Juhl. This influence is visible across their product lines, including the Oxbend and Fjoon collections. Signature pieces like the Sling Chair and Tripod Table showcase their design philosophy.
All furniture is made from start to finish in the Bend studio. Fernweh Woodworking focuses on longevity and sustainability in its designs. They use a patented wood plug system that allows for easier reupholstery and repurpose wood scraps from their production process.
